SACRAMENTO, Calif. — 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2026 — Multiple campuses and facilities within the Los Rios Community College District were placed on lockdown Tuesday afternoon following an active incident in the Sacramento area.

The lockdown reportedly includes the Los Rios Community College District Office, Sacramento City College and American River College.

Students and employees were instructed to shelter in place and remain inside while authorities responded to the situation.

Emergency messages directed those on campus to remain in lockdown, stay away from windows, secure doors and follow official safety instructions until the emergency alert is lifted.

Law Enforcement Responding

Sacramento police, firefighters and other emergency personnel were reported to be responding as authorities worked to assess the situation and secure the affected locations.
